doctor clinical audit awards and these have proved to be a huge success. so much so, that we extended the awards to include quality improvement projects (i.e. projects that do not measure against standards). over the last 8 years we have had over 1,000 entries and some fantastic examples of audits and qi projects that have made a difference. previous winners have been shortlisted for hsj awards, had their work published in academic journals and gone on to work for nhs improvement! the format for 2018 is much the same as in previous years and we invite entries for the two categories: clinical audit projects and quality improvement projects. all entries must reach us by 3 september 2018 and we will shortlist finalists in the subsequent 2 weeks. you can see the posters created by . casc conference and competition update we are disappointed to announce that we have taken the decision to postpone the clinical audit conference and awards that we planned to hold in leicester on 26 june. unfortunately, we have not been able to gain commitment from a number of key bodies to deliver keynote presentations at the event and we are aware the 26 june is now fast approaching. after an initial slow response to our clinical audit awards (that were to form part of the event on 26 june) the decision to extend the deadline for submissions to the end of april proved a good one and we received a respectable number of entries. we passionately believe that there is a need and demand for this event in the near future. with this in mind we have taken the decision to postpone the conference and awards until november and at this stage we are considering holding the re-arranged event in the build-up to, or part of clinical audit awareness week that this year takes place from 19-23 november. we thank all those who have submitted entries for the awards and will provide further updates in due course. hqip contract and rcp nca guide on 19 april, the healthcare quality improvement partnership (hqip) announced that they have been re-commissioned by nhs england to deliver the national clinical audit and patient outcome programme (ncapop) for a further three years. hqip were originally awarded the earlier versions of this contract in 2008 and 2013. we understand that in terms of contract delivery, hqip will focus mainly on the 40 national audits that make-up the ncapop but that they also plan to continue to provide limited support to local audit. the exact detail (work specification, monetary value, etc.) within the nhs england contract is yet to be released,
